I've decided to join the human race and read the Harry Potter books. If I get my skates on I could be up to speed by the time she releases the final instalment.

I'm halfway through Philosopher's Stone. It's very readable. The style and storytelling are sometimes clumsy- but you're swept along by the stream of invention. Clever things come along at the rate of about two a page. Even though I've seen the films, she's got me wanting to know what happens next.

I miss Alan Rickman. The written Snape is just a mean old man with a hooky nose; nothing sexy about him at all.

I was honoured this morning by a communication from Sr. Jesus C. Velasquez. Here are some of his finer points abstracted for your profit and enjoyment. Please pay close attention.

I saw though a man is said to be blind, he is by no means said to be

heat and cold are access of shame, might be a result of a mans natural temperament

The fact of the being of a man carries with it at the same time the knowledge which was its correlative, the converse again, perception is generated at the same time as the perceiving

disease and health are not teeth, or that blind which has not sight, but rather that which

There is a lot more in the same abstruse vein and- inexplicably, in the middle of the argument- some jarring stuff about shares being set to explode.  Clearly the interpolation is unauthorised. So has the text been tampered with in other ways? For example, has that final apothegm been mutilated or does Sr. Velasquez break off mid-sentence in order to make a point I am as yet unable to grasp? Either way we have been left with much to ponder.
