Ailz has been told she can't drive for six weeks (at least.) Apparently you use your abdominal muscles a lot when you're driving.

It's going to be a quiet Christmas.

No rushing about, no manic cheer.

Oh good.

And not just a quiet Christmas- a quiet winter.

It's going to be a slow business. There's a big, wide wound and the district nurses come in every day to dress it. Getting healed is taking up all of her energy right now.

There are lots of kids round here who have nowhere to play but the streets. The speed bumps keep them safe- and for that I'm grateful.

My street gets a lot of foot and bicycle traffic (I live across from a 350-acre park), but I'm not convinced that the speed bumps make it safer. People still speed. They put the bumps in my whole area, and I think that there are other streets where it made more of a difference. Anyway, I still hate them.
