Giving Peace A Chance

Is it such a bad thing when the leaders of two powerful nations that have been at loggerheads for generations sit down together for friendly talks? The media seem to think so. Opposition to the Trump/Putin summit has been overwhelming. A headline in the Guardian (not untypical) speaks of "a slippery slope to a violent, darker world." Really? It doesn't seem that way to me.

I think people tend to be concerned at the thought of two slippery, narcissistic individuals putting their heads together and I can understand that.

All world leaders- or nearly all (lets not be dogmatic)- are slippery and narcissistic. One of these days we'll order things better and find a way of getting less damaged people into positions of power. Unfortunately we can't put international diplomacy on hold until that happens.
