The best thing is we're no longer waiting on other people's decisions.

Ailz says, "We need to start thinking of this place as our home- and not just some place we've pitched up in."

We've been here nearly five years. We could stay many years more.

We've filled the place with our junk prized personal possessions but the house itself has never felt as if it were ours. This can change.

And as an earnest of my good intentions I've just mopped the kitchen floor.

That's a huge turning point. Making that mental shift will sure change how you see things around the place.

Of course it can.

This place is still new to us (2 years come June time) but as you know, we're slowly making it ours- further decoration getting done in May when the delightful Tudor Owen turns up again- you know you live on the Welsh border when your decorator is named Tudor Owen! :o)

And there are worse parts of the world to be than where you are for sure!

Well, that's a change. Go ahead, orange or pink would look fabulous.

I know the feeling - only in reverse. Around two years ago I began making my "weekend house" my home, but now I'm longing to get a job in Copenhagen and move back to my city flat. This house has ceased to be my home.

It's an odd shift, because there is such a vast gulf between a dwelling and a Home. One is where you have a roof over your head and all the necessities of quotidien life, and the other is... Well, it's HOME! It's a mental state that's quite personal.

And in my book, "Home" doesn't require any ideals of permanence; it is what you make of it. Throw out all reverence and make the house a Home. At least for now.
