"I am not broken but the jug is," said Marlene, picking herself out of the ditch. She held up a shard of pre-Minoan pottery. "This was worth more than all the perfumes of Arabia."

The horse carried on down the road, past the windmills, past the cottages, past the groves of nut trees. Peasants looked up from their labour in the fields and were surprised to see it- A white mare, fully harnessed, trotting along with its nostrils in the air- but without a rider.

Marlene sat down on the bank and picked daisies. "All these flowers," she said, "and no pot to put them in."

That's funny, I saw a naked pregnant woman in the first photo.

I was poking through [livejournal.com profile] jubal51394's friends page and couldn't help myself.

Marlene sat down on the bank and picked daisies. "All these flowers," she said, "and no pot to put them in."

So she wove them into a crown for her head, and a blanket to cover the horse's back. She removed the harness and walked beside the horse as they made their way down to the water. Marlene climbed onto the horse. She steadied herself by weaving her fingers into the horse's main. Together, Marlene and her white mount picked their way along the shore as the sun set, and a full moon rose. The water splintered the moonlight into shards. Marlene and her equine friend reached a place where the shoreline disappeared. They glanced right, then left. Gathering the mane of her mount a little tighter, Marlene urged her into the water. Deeper they went, to the flanks of the horse, to the neck of the horse...and they they disappeared, leaving only floating daisies as evidence they had ever existed.

Oh, they didn't drown. They are living in an undersea kingdom. Rather like ATlantis, only we get to create it.

Where did she come from, I wonder?

She made me remember your novel Saxon River, and the archaeologists.

I do enjoy your automatic writing. It's fun to be surprised.
