Angus

When you name a storm- as we've recently started to do- it becomes a person- with the outline of a character. Angus, for example, who is currently lumbering across the landscape, is clearly a  very large Scotsman- or a bull- or perhaps a Scottish minotaur.

Enough...

I need to go out and see whether the edge of his flapping plaid has done damage to any of our brittle, old trees.

Yet here in the West Midlands it's wet and flat calm..........

It seems to have settled down here since this morning.

Weather can be so local. When we lived in Oldham we frequently enjoyed quite different weather from Manchester, 7 miles away.

Same in Medway- it depended which side of the Down you were on!

Here, it's the Wrekin!

Hills make all the difference. We're on high ground here (not very high) but our weather can be different from the weather in the nearest small town- which is lower.

Heh!

No trees down here, but poor Swanage is flooded again...

My tour of inspection uncovered a broken branch- nothing serious- and damage to the wind chimes- since repaired.

In America Angus is a hamburger.

As in Aberdeen Angus- the number one source of beefsteak?

Yes, those are the cows I mean.
