Making Ice Cream
Apr. 15th, 2016 11:41 amMy first attempt at making ice cream wasn't a complete success. Either I didn't have the bowl cold enough or it was a mistake not to add sugar to the mix. Since then I've had nothing but success.
Making ice cream is really simple. You mix cream, milk, sugar and flavouring and the machine does the rest. The first three times the added flavour was stem ginger. This morning it's fruit puree. The quality of the result depends on the quality of the ingredients.

Date: 2016-04-16 11:02 am (UTC)Some of my earliest memories are of homemade ice cream at my grandmother's. It was always in winter. When the little brook that flowed past her house froze, my uncles would use a sledgehammer to break enough ice for the freezer. I remember the motor overheating and one of them holding ice on either side of the housing to keep it cool. Odd the little details one remembers.
