I was picking red currants this morning. I think I'm the only one in the family who really likes them. Ailz says they need to be cooked up with sugar, but I'm happy to eat them straight off the bush.
I was picking blackcurrants too. Now they do need to be cooked. The raw fruit has a slightly meaty taste and texture.
