My mother had a nasty turn last week. I thought she was dying.

I found my mental processes slowing down, becoming very calm...

She's fine now- and will have forgotten the incident.

I'm thinking of it now as a rehearsal...

Easier, I think. My father-in-law was a long time dying- which was grim- but his death, when it finally came, was no big deal- just another stage in a long process.
