We're back home.

Seeing as how we got up at 4.30 this morning and spent most of the day on a succession of coaches, I don't intend to post much tonight. In fact once I've put this up I'm going to bed.

It was a great holiday.

We took lots of  photos and I got to read the whole of Bleak House (turning  the final page five minutes from home.)

So, I wish you all goodnight and I'll speak to you some more in the morning.......

Ah, glad you have returned.

I wonder if Ava's spirit lingers around her statue at Tossa de Mar. It sounds like a romantic place, and in *real* life I would have thought Ava would be glad for somewhere peaceful.

As I passed by the statue on my last evening in Tossa I saw a group of three young women standing round it, touching it (much as I've seen people touch prehistoric monoliths-half serious, half joking) as if hoping to derive some sort of blessing or virtue from it.

welcome home! Can't wait to see pics. And at least you don't have to combat much jet-lag -- hooray for north/south travel!

Thanks.

I hate air travel. Ailz hates it even more. Travelling by coach is extremely "civilised"- and you've got a courier to look after your every need.

You guys went to Tossa? I LOVE Tossa (at least 1970-1980s Tossa). If I'd have known, I could have given you the location of a small LOCAL bar where some really lovely folks that actually live in the town year-around go. I adored James Mason in "Pandora" and always thought of that movie when I visited there. I'm glad they finally put up a statute to Ava, it looks like it's up on the hill near the ruined basilica, is it?

Tossa is lovely. I've got lots of pictures, which I'll be posting in due course. I guess the historic centre is pretty much unchanged.

Mason is adorable in everything he did. It's a long time since I saw Pandora, but I remember it as agreeably weird.

Yes, Ava is up on the hill, below the basilica.
