An Afternoon In Eastbourne

Wednesday was the hottest day so far this year- with the local temperature topping that in Athens, Rome and Istanbul. Yesterday was cloudier but still warm so we set off for Eastborne without coats or sweaters- forgetting there'd be a cold breeze coming in off the sea.

Last time we were there, at the back end of last year, they were still demolishing the fire-damaged buildings on the pier. Now they've begun the reconstruction. You can watch whats going on through portholes in the hoardings.

Hm! Maybe I'll wander along there, next time I'm rabbiteering in that neck of the woods. (And come to that, I'd love to see how the construction of the new tourist tower's progressing over in Brighton, too)

Certainly was a wonderful few days - naturally, I had to go out and about, but the buns turned out to be mostly just chilling, ranging from floppy to molten, except for one spot where they're all a bit far away for really good shots, where successive brief chases broke out, though seemingly (and thankfully) never anything serious.

I haven't seen the Brighton tower yet. I understand its builders want the wheel getting rid of in case it threatens their profits. I like the wheel and think rather ill of them.

Really? Egad. I wish this could've been a purely, or even majority, municipal plan.. we wouldn't be seeing that rather nonsensical breed of jealousy.

Still, it'd seem a bit unlikely that wish would be granted. That said, I'll admit to being new to this disagreement - I'll have to find out more. *sigh*

I guess I heard about it on the BBC's regional news.
