Battlefield is a suburb of Shrewsbury. In 1403 Henry IV defeated Harry Hotspur there- and Sir John Falstaff soliliquised about honour and sherris sack.

The actual battle ground has not been built on. This is what it looks like on a misty morning in March.

After the battle King Henry founded a college of priests on or near the site of the burial pits. All that's left is the chapel- dedicated to St Mary Magdalene- which later served as the parish church and is now redundant...

I'll bet the Holy Grail is buried there somewhere.

You may remember my posting from Battle Field a while back.

Henry plainly felt deep guilt at Hotspur's death.

If I'd have had my spade with me I'd have dug a few test pits.

Didn't stop him from chopping his body up and displaying it in the market place.

They're rather proud of that fact in Shrewsbury judging by the plaque, but Henry seems to have started nightmares after the event.
