One of my friends just deleted her journal.

Of course she has every right, but, my, it's frustrating not to be able to call it up and re-read recent entries and hazard a guess at why.

The LJ universe is as unstable as the "real" one.

Oh look-

A falling star.......

There is a community which exists for people to leave behind messages explaining why they've deleted their journals. But I don't know if your friend would have known about it or left a message. The community seems to me like an idea which will never quite work anyway, because who would want to be a regular member of it, and have to read hundreds of messages about complete strangers deleting their LJs?

It's a pity people can't leave behind a message explaining their reasons, while the rest of their journal gets deleted. I also never quite undertand why anyone would want to delete anyway, but there it is.

What a neat idea. I'll know where to look next time someone blinks out.

As it happens, this particular story has a happy ending. My friend hit the wrong button and now she's back.

Was it me? I know that I mainly just lurk on your journal, but I didn't see any other deleted journals on your friends list.

I case it was-- I deleted my journal by accident. I had meant to delete an old, inactive community that I used to run, but forgot to click the "switch" button. I'm not really gone.

Yes it was you.:)

Hey, I'm glad you're back.

It's kinda scary when someone just disappears off the radar. Like the Bermuda Triangle swallowed them or something.

Mind if I follow along for a while?

Found you in the commentary of Sunfell's journal. According to your bio, we are similar in age and also in religious exploration.

The deletion of a journal is terribly final. It's the equivalent of burning a manuscript. And it's so easily done.
