My mother in 1964 or 5- when she was in her early 40s- on the balcony of my grandparents' flat in Hove.



And here's my father- same sort of period- sitting on a wall in France. I think the location is the Chateau' d' Angers.

There are a couple of professional painters in my mother's family tree- and lots of amateurs. My grandmother was a woodcarver and my mother has always dabbled in craftwork.

My father's family had no artistic tradition I'm aware of- but he liked gadgets- including cameras.

Those high rises are blocking what would otherwise be a lovely view of the sea.
