"Mrs Booth" is a bronze statue by Ann Carrington, modelled after the shell ladies you used to be able to buy in seaside gift shops. She stands at the end of Margate's Stone Pier.  The original Mrs Booth was the lover (and landlady) of the painter J.M.W. Turner.

That's really rather charming. ^_^ It's a delightful piece in its own right, whilst also reflecting part of the country's heritage, in multiple ways.

Carrington started by making statues out of real shells- and these were so popular the council commissioned her to make one that would last.
