I have over 200 LJ friends but only a small fraction ever do anything. I had a wee clear out yesterday, but only of people who had defriended me or never friended me back. One of them friended me by return and I reinstated him/her- so that was a good outcome.

I notice this morning that other people have been doing the same thing. The group mind in action, I suppose.

I haven't done so for a very long time although some of my friends on my F-list no longer write on LJ or moved to other platforms. I seem to have gained many more recently.

That's good. I haven't picked up any new friends for ages.

Are you new? I thought we'd been mates for ages....

It has gotten much quieter. I miss the days when my Friends page was too much to keep up with.

I wonder whether LJ will ever perk up again. I live in hope.

I live in hope, too. I'm looking around for people on other people's friends' pages to see if maybe we're six degrees of separation.

I need to do that as well.

I need to do something similar...too many dead weights here but I have been lucky to meet more than a few interesting and active people here in the past year so it evens out.

The dead weights make me sad. It's like a field of ruins out there.

Yes, it is sad that people I interacted with and truly enjoyed here on lJ have gone away. I do keep in touch with many of them through other ways, though, and visit them when possible. I am happy to have found quite a few new people here who are active and write very often. I guess I've been lucky.

G and I love London, but only in small doses. Two or three days of the rush and bustle of the big city does me good. More than that and I start longing for peace and quiet again.

It's possible to visit and amuse yourself cheaply as long as you don't go to shows and don't eat in the most expensive places, especially tourist traps like Convent Garden. For example we've found a great pizza restaurant on the South Bank where a main course and desert for two, with a glass of wine each, only costs around £45. OK, not cheap, but not exorbitant either and doable as an occasional treat while on holiday.

PS I'm slightly baffled that this post's content has changed since I last read it, hence the comments seeming a bit non sequitur-ish.

LJ has been messing me about this morning. I put up a new post and then found I'd overwritten the one before. I've sorted things out now but, yes, it means your comment is now in the wrong place. Never mind.

Ailz and I used to go to London a lot- and yes, we mostly steered clear of the West End. Our favourite place for a while was the V & A.

I see I managed to reply in the short period of time before you re-instated the post about LJ friends. Now it's my comment that's non sequitur-ish. :)

Oddly enough, I also had bit of a clear out a few days back. People who hadn't posted or commented for literally years.

Like I said, it's the group mind.

I never built a stable of LJ friends, and I'm not cleaning house. A lot of good friends have wafted off to Google+ or FB, and I'm spending a lot of time on FB myself. But at some point the shininess of microblogging may wear off and we might want to do real posts again.

It would be good if that happened.
