Ghostly Counsel

Two things that were said to me in a dream last night by a figure of authority.

1. "Father*,  they love you because you remember their ways."

2. "You know yourself in the light but not in the dark."


*This was an acknowledgement of my status as a priest of the Church of England.

Since I'm not altogether sure what the speaker meant I can't really agree or disagree.

I dreamed of my father last night. I admired his trim figure, and said, "But have you changed the dressing on that wound in your thigh?"

"Naturally," he responded.

I came out of last night's dream desperate to remember what had been said because it seemed so significant.
