Odd Thing

Here’s one of those odd things. It was around midnight and I was thinking about my daughter. I drifted off to sleep and the phone rang. It was Alice , of course, and it was a mistake. She’d been meaning to call someone else and her finger hit the wrong button.

OK it doesn’t prove anything. It’s just another coincidence. But, my, aren’t there a lot of them?

Me too. I think everything is interconnected.

Have you ever...

I'm sure I'm not the only person this has happened to. I'll be walking along, minding my own business, and suddenly a thought of a person comes into my mind. And later that day, or sometimes in the next few days, I will see that person or hear from them. Happens with my friend on the West Coast -

Happened about two weeks ago, as a matter of fact, with someone I hadn't seen in about eight years. For one reason or another she just appeared in my thoughts, and that very day I looked up from my desk and she was walking down the hall here in the L.S.

I argued with my psychology teacher about ESP and precognition, he insisted that there is no such thing, it's all coincidence. I, being 20 years older than he even though I was a student (and got a B in the course) wisely shut my mouth. But I really don't believe in coincidences.

I find that kind of thing happens all the time. I take it for granted and forget the particular instances.

Oh, I don't think it's coincidence either.

How is Alice?

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2005-03-28 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
She's living at her boyfriend' mother's house while she and Jamyz look for a place of their own. They've got an American holiday planned.

I hadn't spoken to her for several weeks, which was why she was particularly on my mind. It was good to have that talk- even though I was only half awake and largely incoherent.

synchronicity. energy at work!

synchronicity, telepathy, whatever....

I have little doubt such things exist.

I've had it happen several times where I picked up the phone to telephone someone ... and got no dial tone. Then I hear "Hello?" from the other end of the line, and realise that I got no dial tone because the person I was thinking of telephoning had just telephoned me, but I'd picked the phone up before it could ring. Spooky.

Taken individually these things don't prove a thing- but add them all together....

The trouble with ESP (from a scientific point of view) is that it can't be demonstrated under laboratory conditions.

Psychic? Well maybe....

Actually, I think we're all psychic and these sort of "coincidences" happen all the time- and mostly we ignore them.

Guess what! Joe is coming to see us this week!
