The Weather Over Christmas

We saw a lot of flooding as we drove to my sister's yesterday. The Hop Farm- which hosts gigs and festivals and rallies, seemed to be completely underwater. In Aylesford the Medway had broken its banks.

On today's lunchtime news a woman from our neighbouring village of Brenchley was saying she'd been without power since Monday.

Right now- Boxing Day afternoon- the sun is shining brightly. More rain and high winds are forecast for this evening.

Sounds like a good idea.

Thank you for the weather report! My Partner got up this morning and saw that there was flooding and high winds over there, but there was absolutely no date on the article. She was trying to figure out if this was going on now, or sometime in the past.

So, you straightened that up for us! :-)

Glad to be of service :)

Please use your powers to ensure reasonable service out of Somerset on the morrow. ^_^ (Much as I love the Nog Inn's choices of farmhouse ciders, and their menu, while simple, is damned well excuted - the cider ham is superb! - I'd still like to be able to return to the warren with less drama than on Christmas Eve, which saw my route swing around several times.

I do rather wish I'd been able to photograph some of the exceptional scenes along the way out of Bath - the Avon had well and truly exceeded itself on many points, to quite dramatic effect. (Indeed, I'd love to see a photographer train sometime, deliberately stopping at various points along the route - the lines afford many quite unique views, but never in any relaxed form, only functionally hurried along)

An excursion train for photographers- what an excellent idea!

Things are very quiet here at the moment. I'm beginning to wonder if the forecasters have got it wrong.
