Nervy

A carton of cream jumps out of the fridge and spreads itself across the floor.

I clean up the cream.

Ailz catches her foot in a cable and my laptop hits the deck.

Ailz says something and I say, "Don't speak to me right now because I don't think I can answer coherently".

I leave her to check that the laptop isn't bust and take a turn round the front garden. I find an apple tree I didn't know was there. I eat an apple.

I hadn't realized I was so close to the edge...

Well, to be honest, a laptop is a pricey item, so getting a little hot under the collar because you aren't sure if it might be broken really is understandable.

Not at Ailz specifically, just at the accident in general, of course.

Oddly enough it was the cream that really upset me. It seemed such a waste. The laptop was just one more rotten thing. I was already as upset as I was going to get.
