Down With The Kids

"The kids don't watch television either," says Ailz

It's something she read in The Mail. The BBC is cutting back on childrens' programmes  and putting the money into games and websites (and severance pay for senior executives). They're doing this because they're not getting the viewers any more.

It's nice to be in tune with the younger generation.

Maybe if they actually put on anything worth watching ...

That said, I do find things to watch on BBC but it's funny that many of the programmes I like are repeats of good programmes made a few years ago (Neil Oliver, etc.)

My mother watches TV between six and nine every evening. It's all gardening and cooking. The hairy bikers (who I'm getting to detest) seem to be on every day.

I have to admit to an addiction to The Great British Bake-Off, but as for Hairy Bikers and the 'orrible Jamie, nah! Oh yes, Who Do You Think You Are is nice as well.

WI don't really understand the popularity of cookery shows. I don't want to look at food. I want to eat it.

Over here there's an entire channel dedicated to cookery shows...ok, as well as food related gameshows and restaurant guides, "The Food Network" (or "Food.ca", as it has a sister station in the USA)

At work, people often have that channel on in the cafeteria! It's either that, sports, or news (there used to be another channel, the Canadian G4, but I haven't noticed people watching that lately)

I expect we have cookery channels too. I've just never gone looking for them.
