I dreamed about a part work that catalogued every single performance Peter Sellers ever gave in any medium. You know, I might subscribe to something like that.

I woke and the rain was bucketing down.

I tend not to really take that much notice of celebrity deaths - but with Peter Sellers, I still remember sitting in the car (a Saturday, maybe?) ready to head into London, and hearing that come over the news on Radio 1. At that time, I mostly only knew him from the Pink Panther flicks, but he had such extraordinary screen presence, and comic timing of the highest order, coupled with such a restrained style, even in more slapstick moments.

(I've not yet seen the recent remake - from what I gather, not exactly Steve Martin's finest work)

He was a great artist and a very confused and unhappy man. Also he died young...
