Beautiful building! I really don't know Kent at all well. Have been only to Chartwell, Sissinghurst and Scotney - oh and Canterbury Cathedral once. Must get down there for a poke around. I'm getting lots of ideas from your LJ.
There are parts of Kent where every village you drive through is a gem. It's extraordinary it has managed- some of it- to remain so unspoiled in spite of the proximity to London.
