Pure, White And Deadly

poliphiloYesterday was sunny. I got to hang clothes outside- and have them dry (for only the second time this year) and sit outside myself with a book. I'm reading Pure, White and Deadly- which is all about the evils of sugar. Ailz passed it down to me. She reads a lot about nutrition.
Sugar is nutritionally useless and makes us ill- tooth decay, obesity, diabetes, heart disease- and we all eat vast amounts of it. I knew this, of course, but it's good to have chapter and verse. I don't take a lot of sugar (I don't have a sweet tooth) but it's hard to avoid it entirely because manufacturers add it to everything- including, unfeasibly, tinned vegetables. Henceforward I'm going to be more aware and more discriminating.
