Hide was pretty good. I like it when the Doctor is saving individuals rather than whole civilizations/planets/universes. The smaller stories are often the most resonant. I'm also a sucker for haunted houses.

I enjoyed the first Arne Dahl story. The second I'm less sure of. The detectives are acquiring soapy private lives and there are seven of them to keep track of. I want my detectives to detect, not spend their time getting laid/contacting long-lost children/being traumatized because their new boyfriend has leukaemia. If I wanted this kind of complication I'd be hooked into Dallas or Eastenders or some other dope like that.

My only theory is that, as part of the channeling of the classic series they seem to be doing, they wanted this story set in the Tom Baker era (which had some spooky mansions, horror, parking the TARDIS at the Earth's beginning, and ethereal space travelers in all-white).

Although maybe those aren't specific enough to the Tom Baker era.

Makes sense - I was assuming that there's some kind of Bad Wolf overarching plot to do with Clara and that the episode being in 1974 was somehow related to that - there's a lot of significant lines being drawn between Clara and Rose.
