I bought a stamp and it had The Doctor's head on it- as incarnated by Paul McGann. Hooray!

Why are steak and kidney pies off the menu? I've tried in two supermarkets now and neither had steak and kidney on offer (at least not in the cheaper range). Is it something to do with the horsemeat scandal or is the British public turning its back on offal? Perhaps it's the latter. I got asked last night in an online survey if I'd ever eaten devilled kidneys (with the context implying it was an exotic dish on a par with frogs legs.) I love kidney. One of the greatest meals I've ever eaten (at a restaurant just up the road from Ferney-Voltaire) had kidneys in it.

We don't have one of those locally, but I'm told we may be getting one- which would be good.

Their clothing range has gone down the toilet so far as I am concerned, but we DO like the quality of their food.

I've done some research. The rule had a coach and horses driven through it in 2005- with the issue of a mini-sheet celebrating the Ashes victory and featuring the faces of several cricketers. Since then there have been a number of issues featuring living people. David Tennant has appeared twice; once as Hamlet and once as Dr Who.

Before 2005 there were minor breaches- including the Freddie Mercury commemorative which featured a blob in the distance that could only have been Roger Taylor.

I had a bit of kidney pie once at a buffet. I didn't like the taste or the texture. I thought it was too salty. I like liver, which is another organ meat, but only if it is fried with a lot of onions. I don't mind the texture of liver, so long as it isn't over cooked.

Kidney is a strong flavour. Liver too. I'm less fond of liver. Liver and onions was on the menu regularly when I was growing up.
