There was a big black fly bumping around the living room last night. This also is a sign of spring.

A lot of people in my life have April birthdays. My father, my elder son, my first wife. Taureans. There was a report on TV about this research which "proves" that people born in the spring are happier than people born in the autumn. Is it, asked the researcher, because of all that sunlight they drink up in the first months, or is it because their parents interact with them more cheerily?

Shakespeare has cocking a snook, right? That's a parody of an Elizabethan pop song, not a serious bid for chart success?

Shakespeare was an April baby too.

Wouldn't it be so much easier if the zodiacal signs conformed to calendar months? I'm number blind and I can never remember where one sign ends and the other begins.

I have terrible trouble remembering birthdays too.

My birthday is May 5, easy to remember, as its Cinco de Mayo. But my mother also taught me all kinds of divination as a child, so I can tell you that by the traditional chart (not sidereal) Taurus goes from April 20th to May 20th.
