Mike says he likes the Hobbit movie better than the Lord of the Rings movies because Bilbo is a proper character and Frodo is just a suffering cypher. I say that's how Tolkien wrote them. He says the only character that hooks him in Lord of the Rings is Boromir because he's conflicted and- besides- Sean Bean is a good actor. Excuse me for having a bit of a cringe! Transsexual is one word with no hyphen and is as often as not shortened to trans these days. I have issues with trans parts being played by cis actors (in case you're not familiar with the term cis = not trans) although at least this characterisation admits that trans people can be butch lesbians as well as the straight girly girls that 'everbody knows' we are! saints preserve us from stereotyping!

I liked it that they cast a archetypal tough guy in the role. Bean is a fine actor. I imagine he jumped at the chance to do something so far outside his usual range.
