In Demand

Oh good, a second survey! It was about mortgages- another subject I know nothing about- but with Ailz's help I was able to blag it. I reckon it took me half an hour to complete- but time is something I'm rich in. "That will have earned you 20p," said Ailz. "And you can have half of it," I replied.

I do a regular Media one each day and is about what programmes i have watched on TV or listened to on the radio. Sometimes i get a reward such as a £5 voucher to spend in HMV or Waterstones.

I wish that I'd lied about my age as think younger people get through more.
Tried Valued Opinions?

You're right. I've been refused by a couple of sites- probably because of my age. Valued Opinions was one of them.

When I worked briefly for a cold-call market research company (it was a horrible job), they didn't like online surveys, because online surveys rely on the surveyee to understand the questions and respond accurately, and there's no trained interviewer overseeing things.

There were certain demographics that were easier to get responses from. Not just age demographics but including single mothers on welfare or people living alone with a landline. My guess is market research companies want to use online surveys mainly to fill in the gaps in their research, with demographics that don't respond well to their preferred research methods. So it's not just age per se but belonging to a demographic they've already got covered.

I guess they must have an overplus of elderly white blokes with time on their hands. Oh well!
