poliphiloPeople mostly accept the version of reality that's presented to them by parents, teachers, preachers, journalists, politicians and other authority figures. They'll say, "you can't believe everything you read in the papers" but they mostly do. People have faith- a quality recommended to them as wholly admirable by the fraudsters and psychopaths who run the world.
