Closing Ceremony

Kenneth Branagh dressed as Isambard Kingdom Brunel reciting Shakespeare halfway up Glastonbury Tor was authentically strange; Tim Spall reciting the same piece of Shakespeare from the pinnacle of Big Ben whilst pretending to be Winston Churchill was corny. The Opening Ceremony was a work of the imagination, the Closing Ceremony wasn't, but- never mind- I'm sure it was pretty amazing if you were actually there.

I gave up and went to bed - but Eric Idle was good. I gather that I missed Darcey Bussell, which was a pity, but most of it was utterly boring

No, but she was boring too. Well, I'm not a ballet enthusiast, but it was boring to me. Not as boring as The Who, but not stupendous.

I'm not a ballet enthusuayt, but I think that she is fairly special, as ballet goes

I missed Eric Idle, but I've seen him before. I know what he does.

I've never seen him before - but I like the song, and I liked the skating nuns and the morris dancers -

Always Look on the Bright Side, right? I like that song too.

Would it have worked better with different Shakespeare?

I don't think so. It was Churchill on top of Big Ben that got my goat.
