I don't approve of knighthoods- except for actors. There's a congruity between the flummery of titles and what actors do for a living. So let him who plays the king have a handle to his name. Why not?  Besides there's a tradition of ennobling the heads of this particular profession. Olivier, Gielgud, Richardson, Redgrave, Guinness, McKellen; It's been obvious since he was nobbut a lad that Kenneth Branagh belongs in this company.

That's a bravura piece of film-making. The logistics of that long tracking shot and getting it to fit the music- wow! Just wow!

Can't say that I agree with knighthoods for actors or anyone, then I don't agree with a monarchy so how could I? But if I were a cap wearing sort of a chap I would doft it to dear Ken. Best Henry V and Iago on film. Would love to see him on stage.

Also, I think Branagh's Agincourt tracking shot was a response, not to mention a one-upping, of Olivier's shorter tracking shot of the French cavalry charge in his H5.

The whole film, I think, is a head on challenge to Olivier. He sort of denied it at the time, implying it was pure accident he'd lit on Henry V for his first directorial assignment, but I don't believe him.

I have enjoyed Brannagh from the first time I saw him -- in "Much Ado About Nothing", up to and including Gilderoy Lockhart in the Harry Potter saga, and also Wallander on PBS. I was happy to see he had achieved the "Sir".
