The social worker came to see us at Eric's bedside and talked to us about putting a care package together. Eric had his eyes open much of the time but didn't seem to be taking any of it in.
This isn't an uncommon story, I'm afraid - it happens so often that a problem is revealed in hospital - perhaps because of the separation from daily things and familiar surroundings I hope that the social worker is as good as my mother's was - I don't know how I'd have coped without her -
He has gone downhill quickly, hasn't he? Perhaps the infections have affected his mental capabilities. He's also far away from what he knew as his routine. It's sad.
