Yesterday was very windy. A slate came off next door's roof and shattered in their back yard. Plastic bins were blowing around. A tree had been uprooted beside King's Road and others had lost sizeable branches.

Eric has C difficile. We were required to put on pinnies and gloves before we were allowed into his room. He was- however- more responsive than he has been for a week or more.

Oh dear, that is serious. My fil had a skirmish with C diff and it almost won. Best of luck to Eric.

The staff seemed to think they'd caught it early...

From the little I've read, it sounds as though he might have picked it up while in hospital? Tsk.

His doctor admits that it's caused by the antibiotics he's on for his pneumonia.

Hospitals are much too keen to dispense antibiotics, which it what c difficile thrives on. At the first sign of an outbreak the response is to cut wide ranging antibiotics to a minimum. Why can't they do that all the time?

I don't know. Could they have treated his pneumonia without using antibiotics? Are there alternatives?

Ouch. Poor chap. Was he listless before this was diagnosed or is it entirely co-incidental??
