A Dream

My life was a house with at least three floors and I was wandering through it. A couple (I knew them at university) complained that I'd been neglecting them and accused me of being an antisocial eccentric. "Why, yes." I said," I thought you knew."

Come, now. You aren't that antisocial, are you?

How do you measure these things? I don't live in the wilderness with a rack of hunting rifles and shotguns, but I like to be left alone...

I don't know how to measure something like this either and am probably the wrong person to ask. While I deny being a recluse, I have little desire for visitors and even less desire to go out socializing. I don't think it's necessarily a dislike of people, more that what they too often show me is something I've seen before and I wasn't exactly thrilled the first time.

A friend has a Chinese woodblock that translates, "Having no visitors is like living deep in the mountains". Here in the dark tower, I think of that so often.

And it's quite fun, isn't it.

You take nice photographs, though.

An essentially solitary occupation...
