Wild Life

A dove is chasing another dove around the yard- whether for sex or violence I really don't know. They move at the ridiculous pace of a slow-cranked silent comedy.

A new cat has staked out the yard as its territory. It is black all over except for the tiniest white spot on the very tip of its tail. I read somewhere that you'll rarely/never come across an all-black cat because our ancestors used to burn them as witches.

Black cats are invisible in the dark. I had a solid black one once -- he had not one white hair on his body. One parent was Siamese, the other a tabby. He had the smartness and agility of the Siamese parent and the hunting ability of the tabby-tiger. Oh, yes, and he "talked" incessantly like a Siamese, but in a sweet tabby voice. That was Timothy, so many years ago.

I've had black cats in the past but they always had some white markings on them.

Timothy sounds lovely.
