I drifted to the front window with the phone to my ear (I like to walk around when I'm taking or making a call) and the hedges on either side of our front yard were full of great tits and long-tailed tits.

Longtailed tits were the favourite birds of two of my friends - you probably remember that Richenda liked to call them flying coffee spoons - I think that flying teaspoons is more usual?
I wonder why they so often hang out with great tits? I thin kthat longtailed and blue tend to travel in flocks, more than great tits do

Long-tailed tits are rare round here. In fact I can't remember ever having seen one in the garden before. Flying coffee spoon is good.

There must be some reason for them hanging out with their cousins, but I've no idea what it is.
