John And Anne Bradbourne

Also from St. Oswald's, Ashbourne and related to Margaret Cockayne. Sir John Bradbourne died in 1483.

Said it before, deserves saying again, Tony. I L.O.V.E. these posts!

Seems only fair. :)

I'm loving them, too!
They looks so young by today's standards. Of course if you lived to 40 back then you were ancient.

John Bradbourne lived to be over 60. Anne survived him, remarried and lived into her 70s or 80s. If these are their effigies (and it isn't entirely certain) they must be representations of them in their youthful prime.

How fine! I wonder what has happened to their noses?

They've been broken off and rather clumsily repaired. The material is alabaster.

Very clumsily. Thanks.
