That Thing With Rihanna

A bossy puritan (DUP alderman) tells a licentious woman (Pop star with tits out) to get off his land, saying afterwards that she and her friends could perhaps, "acquaint themselves with a greater God".

So much of human history is here.

And yet...

He didn't give up his principles for money. Because in cutting the filming short, I suspect they didn't give him as much money as they would have had he allowed them to finish.

I don't doubt the sincerity of his principles. In a way I admire him.

Wouldn't this one be more properly Calvinist? How shall we tell them apart?

You are probably much better at Christian taxonomy. I shall happily bow to your authority.

Also, you can bet it wasn't her tits that frightened him; it was being recognized for his personal involvement in this hoochie coochie show.

You're right; the guy's probably a Presbyterian. I'm using Puritan in the broadest possible sense- as a mindset that doesn't belong to any one religion.

I think there could be something in your (terribly cynical) reading of the situation. :)

I am certain that you are perfectly justified using puritan in a broad, generic sense, both here and elsewhere, but I am somewhat reluctant to follow suit.

In this particular case I'm actually inclined to agree. Despite being likely a scion of Scots Calvinists -- quite possibly the worst of a bad lot -- to my mind this fellow qualifies as puritan. As so often happens, you've left me with something to ponder.

I think he was just being a little too puritanical. Perhaps it was the heat of the day making him feel queasy about it.
