The light in that picture is wonderful!

Thanks.

the light on her face is reflected off the laminated menu she's holding- an entirely unplanned effect. :)

I like how she looks kind of radiant.

Yes, And it's more than a trick of the light.

Thank you.

I know you didn't plan the light reflected on her face, but it really makes the picture special. That and being a beautiful old lady with a beautiful young lady beside her.

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2011-09-12 08:22 am (UTC)(link)
I saw the effect and quickly reached for my camera.

The beautiful young lady is my niece, Jo.

Beautiful.

What a marvelous photo! I do believe you two favor each other a bit.

Happy 90th Birthday, Tony's mum! That's a good long time. May she have as many more years as she wishes, and may they be happy ones! :)

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2011-09-12 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks.

Yes, I believe I inherit my blond good looks from her. :)

[identity profile] michaleen.livejournal.com 2011-09-12 09:43 am (UTC)(link)
Very nice, as usual.

You have a fine eye for composition. Have you studied art at some point?

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2011-09-12 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks.

I've been looking at art all my life- it's one of my passions- and I've painted a bit.

[identity profile] michaleen.livejournal.com 2011-09-13 10:15 am (UTC)(link)
I had suspected that you painted or the like. I find that painting, drawing and such, seem to have an effect on one's photography. I believe that the same can hold true for the literary arts, that writing poetry, even bad poetry, seems to work wonders on one's prose. There are exceptions -- see Whitman, Walt -- but it seems to hold.

Obviously, I'm rather fond of your prose as well, so in the realm of anecdotal evidence supporting my pet theory, you qualify as a twofer.

Congratulations are in order! Looks like she's got exactly the right idea - what with that respectable glass of red wine!!

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2011-09-12 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
It was a good meal. I can't comment on the wine because I was drinking the local bitter myself.
