Decluttering

When the workmen were imminent I moved a lot of kitchen stuff into a shed. Now we're clearing out the shed.

Why do I own an unopened bottle of white malt vinegar?

We took a car-load of stuff to the tip. A guy is supposed to be coming tonight to pick up some planters we put on freecycle.

For cleaning windows?

Possibly.

I could certainly use it for that, anyway.

I'm packing for the move on Tuesday... I'm realising just how much I can get rid of!!! (But the new flat is in a building with an area for disposing of large refuse, so I'm packing it all but labeling some boxes so I know the content just needs to be thrown out - and loads of other items are going to go to the local charity shop!

It's extraordinary how much stuff one accumulates- much of it quite valueless.

Agreed! Hence the spring and fall cleaning and downsizing for me. I live in a one-room bed/sitter, so it does not make a welcome site for much clutter. I have been amazed to see how little I really need. I can cook gourmet meals with a basic set of cookware, for example. I only need two sets of bedsheets. The less stuff in the place, the easier it is to clean and organize. Sometimes, I too find the occasional equivalent of your bottle of white malt vinegar among my belongings and for the life of me I cannot usually figure out where or why I got it.

I have a kitchen full of gadgets and stuff- and really all I ever use are a few pans and wooden spoons.
