Apples

I was picking apples this morning. Bit early, isn't it?

I hope it wasn't your own. Unripe apples should only ever be picked from the neighbours garden, preferably with a large angry dog at the foot of the tree... AND you should have a tummy ache for at least 24 hours afterwards.

They were my father-in-law's.

But they're weren't unripe. That's the thing.

"They weren't unripe"... Sure... I've used that excuse as well! Though, I might say, that is a few years ago...

not if you want them for breakfast today.

now if it was 2 am last night
that would have been early

I made a crumble with the apples from my tree last week - it was delicious!

Seems early. What kind of apple? There's a yellow-green apple that comes in over here late summer or so. I forget the name. My grandmother had a tree and so did the neighbors, when I was a child.

My father-in-law did tell me the name of the apple, but I've forgotten.

Spring came early this year; I think autumn is coming early too.

I heard something on the radio the other week about it being a particularly good year for the commercial apple crop. (So I suppose it must be good for garden apple trees too.)

Not only were the apples ripening early but the season should carry on for a long time. It was something to do with the weather having been favourable early on in the year.

There are still plenty of apples ripening on the tree. We are giving a lot away. I plan on having apple sauce at lunch....
