Two Questions

The police in Manchester must have known it was going to kick off last night, so why were they just sitting in their squad cars observing from a distance?

Was it because half their number had been shipped off down south to protect a more important city?

Saturation policing is bollox, it kicked off briefly at Canning Town, Welsh plod patrolled Hackney (!) As for Manchester, is it a matter of Londo being more important or of stopping the looting after 4 days of inactivity? Respect to Sikhs who set up militias!

Yeah, respect to the Sikhs.

There were rumours of Manchester and Lancashire police being sent to London, but maybe they weren't true.

As Dave said yes some were deployed, I heard of Scots police in Manchester. Tonight will prove interesting!

I expect things to be rained off in Manchester. If the looters choose to go out in this they're hardier spirits than I am.
