A Footnote To Last Night's Post

I forgot about my arthritis when I was minding Fabi. I'm remembering it now. 

I've never liked indoor swimming pools- the mugginess, the chlorine, the changing rooms with their slippery floors.  Swimming outdoors is a different matter. Once- when Ailz and I were dating- we came across a flooded quarry where people were swimming- and I jumped in fully clothed. It's British and Irish indoor swimming pools, too. On the continent they're so much cleaner and more inviting.

Oh, that Manchester was on the sea and we could just swim off a beach...

I don't think much of outdoor pools, either. Creeks and rivers are so much more inviting.

Oh, yes! Boys and quarries. I remember when I was young the local boys would hitchike down to Quincy, about ten miles south of Boston to the quarry there and swim away the hot summer afternoon. Girls did not go there because we heard from the boys that they swam naked...
