Murdoch And The Politicians

I'm sure the politicians would love to get out from under Rupert Murdoch if they could. The News of the World hacking scandal gives them that opportunity, or does it? I imagine they're very busily calculating how far they dare go. Both Cameron and Miliband have done some yapping today. Will they take their chances and raise their sights from The News of the World to its owner, or will their nerve fail them?

I suspect their nerve will fail them. Politicians are not particularly well known for their strength of character.

It's possible they will be carried along by events. The PM has already promised a public enquiry (for what it's worth).

And indeed events seem to be moving along rapidly, even by the standards of these latter days. Your PM is allegedly in some seriously deep shit, politically, and even the Torygraph seems most unhappy with his performance.

The Torygraph has never loved Mr Cameron. It thinks him insufficiently conservative.

But, yes, I agree with the article. Cameron has been unwise to get in so deep with the Chipping Norton set. He was stupid to hire Coulson. He's very good at PR- at off the cuff reactions- but I don't think the cleverness goes very deep.

This scandal has been hanging over NI for years- and the British establishment has been in denial- refusing to believe the avalanche would fall.

Was it BSkyB that finally brought it all down?
