The Census

Ailz has volunteered to fill in the census form. I think she must have done the last one too- because I have no memory of it.  I'm very happy for her to do it because I don't like questionnaires. 

Two reasons. One I'm a very private person. Two I don't know what the answers are. 

I have, of course, had to give some thought to the question about religion. How very very difficult that is. Can it really be the case that a person who has spent most of his life faffing around about religion now has no religion at all?  Apparently it is.

I have often answered that question "none" when I had conflict or doubt. Different now.

For me religion was a source of conflict.

I do not believe that I have a religion, anymore. I do not believe that I need or desire one, yet atheist would be a gross misnomer. How strange that, having spent a life more-or-less in pursuit of the big truths of our existence, I have come to doubt that such truths even exist.

I'm not an atheist either. I believe we live in a universe of spirit- whatever that means.

That says it rather well, I think. Curiously, I have no doubts about being a spiritual entity immersed in a spiritual world. Most folks around me seem hungry for proof that there is something beyond the material world, whereas I am not entirely certain that the material even exists, at least as assumed.

I used to be one of those folks, but these days it just seems obvious to me that we live in a universe of spirit.
