A Morning Stroll

Ailz didn't have the energy to drive into Manchester for the Tuesday Talk, so- it being a sunny day (and we haven't had many of those recently)- I walked into Oldham to buy butter and croissants and exchange my library books. The library has a new display of big, handsome photographs in the lobby, showing people of all ages and races enjoying library facilities- something fewer people will do less of in David Cameron's Big Society.

I walked home by way of Alexandra Park

With the snow gone I like think I see a hint of spring in your lovely park. Have you noticed any bulbs beginning to sprout (daffs, snow drops...)

Bizarrely had Ethiopian "asylum seeker" (economic migrant) ask me if I'd buy him a bottle of vodka "but any booze would do". What is the Amharic for "Eff off"?

Things have moved on from the days when it was "the price of a cup of tea".

Aha, I think I spy the rare "cuckoo pigeon", which lays its eggs in the nests of Canada geese and leaves its young to be brought up by the hapless parents. Excellent photo.

Thanks.

I love Canadian geese. We have several large flocks all over the countryside and in town here.

They fly over the house sometimes, making a wonderful creaking noise.

What a gorgeous day. I love the quality of light, during the winter months. Not sure why.

It's very clean. Very pure.

Unearthly.

Yes, indeed.
