We installed a web cam today and I used it to talk to Mike.

It's weird to look yourself in the face and it not be a mirror image. Also weird that you can't catch your own eye; look at the screen and the eidolon's eyes are downcast. This is as close as you can ever come to seeing yourself as others see you. I have a grim, grey face. My mouth turns down.

I just got a webcam yesterday. Your observation about never being able to look yourself in the eye is a poignant one. Lends to a strangeness about the thing.

I also saw that I have a mouth that turns down. I never wanted one of those.

My husband lives in another country these days and everybody seems to expect us to be skyping away and chatting on webcam. The truth is, though, we both HATE webcams so we send a lot of e-mails and do a lot of written chatting, but we never ever have online image or voice chats. It would just creep me out...

It's exactly the thoughts I was having yesterday! How weird. I was thinking one needs a camera centre-screen. I have just sent you a poem to comment on, via email, please.
