Nearly The New Year

poliphiloIt's two hours before midnight and the fireworks are already going off. I went outside to put rubbish in Rene's bin- which I've co-opted because ours is already full- and they were launching cheap rockets from a house down the road- and a couple of young men were stood in a front yard a little nearer to me having one of those loud conversations in Urdu that sounds like an argument but isn't really.
