In Passing

Removing the bay has made the yard a little larger.  The workmen piled rubbish all over the flower beds, but seem to have done little real damage. I cleaned up after their clean-up and picked a lot of broken glass out of the soil.

I keep going over our relationship with Peter and Odi. We saw a lot of them at first, but not so much recently. I actually know very little about them.

Halloween isn't big round here yet, but the Muslim kids will be learning about it at school and off the TV. Last week we saw Nakisha-next-door dressed as a witch.

I am sure it is difficult, sorting out your thoughts and feelings about Peter and Odi. Sympathy is usually reserved for someone in more immediately tragic circumstances, but my heart still goes out to you.

Though a stranger, and largely ignorant of even the superficial details, I am certain that you did the right thing.

Good to hear that the flower beds survive unscathed.

What you did was a profoundly Christian thing. The Good Samaritan didn't stop to ask who the guy he was picking up out of the dust on the Jericho Road actually was, and neither did you.

Whatever their history, and whatever happens to Peter, Odi and the kids, they will always remember the kind people in England who helped and befriended them, no questions asked.

But if they have to go, I know you will miss them, especially those kids, such a lot.

Thanks.

If things had ended well I'd have been entirely happy with what we did, since they haven't I'm interrogating every move.

Thanks.

Very sorry that peter and Odi are having this trouble - I suppose that you won't feel much like coming to the virtual party in my journal, but it would be lovely to see you

Sorry to hear about Odi and Peter and the children. You are so close to those kids! How is Ailz feeling?

We're both just very tired. Emotionally drained. But we've always known this was the likely outcome.
